Speaker:  Kathy Welsh and Lisa Wiebenga, Friends of International Students

Friends of International Students is a nonprofit whose goal is to connect international students studying at Coe College with community members in greater-CR area for cross-cultural connection. The organization is planning to expand to include international students at Mount Mercy and Kirkwood as well.

Participants in the organization give international students a glimpse of life in the US/CR. Volunteers are matched with international students based on shared interests, and are introduced at a kick-off event. After the event, the student and volunteers meet on their own schedules. Some of the more popular activities include pumpkin carving, holidays at the volunteers homes, cooking together.

If you are interested in being matched with an international student, please visit the web site at iowafriendsofinternationalstudents.org

THE FOUR WAY TEST

Is it the TRUTH?
Is it FAIR to all concerned?
Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
