  • Looking for a new place to meet. Butcher Block is no longer an option because they are now closed on Thursdays.

Speaker:

Pramod Dwivedi, MS, DrPH (c), Health Director, Linn County Public Health

Pramod came to Linn County Public Health in 2012. He is a fellow Rotarian, a member of the Downtown Rotary.

Linn County Public Health employs 53 full time staff and serves 224,115 people throughout Linn County.
LCPH keeps our communities healthy & strong by:

  • Assessing: Monitoring Health and Diagnosing & Investigating
  • Developing Policies:  Develop Policies; Mobilize Community Partnerships; and Informing, Educating & Empowering the citizens
  • Assurance: Enforcing Laws; Linking citizens to Services; Assuring a Competent Workforce; and Evaluating

Participates in a Community Health Assessment. Latest findings indicated:

  • Cancer is leading cause of death in Cedar Rapids
  • Suicide is on the rise in Linn County

Through its Community Health Improvement Plan, LCPH has developed the following goals:

  • Mental Health: Improved Mental Health through increased community awareness and equal access to mental health substance abuse and prevention services
  • Obesity: Increase opportunities for health eating and physical activity to reduce the risk of obesity-related chronic disease for all residents
  • Safety: Increase the effectiveness of community partnerships to change social norms and attitudes to reduce violence
COVID-19 Pandemic in Linn County
  • 3,317 positive cases in Linn County
  • 2,864 have recovered
  • 357 current active cases
  • 302 have been hospitalized
  • 12 currently in hospital
  • 98 deaths
