Announcements:

  • We need members, please consider bringing a prospective member. The off site meetings seem to be a good meeting to bring someone to. Free to guests.

  • We are looking for a 2nd Incoming President. Would like to know who will follow Nate after next year so this person can attend the Incoming President training that will take place in March.

  • We will be participating in a food drive for HACAP from 2/17-3/13. Watch for an email as we get closer to the date.

  • Peter Teahen and John Ockenfels will be making a trip around the world in a single-engine plane to eradicate polio. Read more about their trip in an article by The Gazette. Peter will be here to speak about this trip on February 13th.

Speaker:

Jeremy Meyer, Communications Director at Clickstop and Leverage Talent Enrichment (a Clickstop Company)

Jeremy began at Clickstop in 2016 as the Director of Operations and in 2018 became the Director of Communications.  Prior to Clickstop, he was a youth pastor in Marion. Family life for Jeremy and his wife recently became a lot busier as they just adopted 4 children and now have a total of 7 children!

Clickstop has been ranked the Coolest Place to Work in Iowa for the last 5 years. Clickstop's secret? Creating engaged employees to drive high performance. So they decided to leverage the techniques they use at Clickstop and created Leverage Talent Enrichment, a consulting group that provides trainings for organizations to help their teams become engaged and ultimately more productive. After sharing the purpose of Leverage, Jeremy took us through some of the basic exercises a team would participate in.

Define Engagement
Clickstop's definition of engagement: Commitment and aligned action to the mission, vales, strategies, and goals.

Difference Between Engagement & Satisfaction
Engagement: Understanding job and committed to going the extra mile
Satisfaction: Content coming to work every day

The most influential factors that cause a person to choose to commit/give discretionary effort in the workplace:
1. Knowing what's expected

2. Having the materials/equipment/resources
3. Do what they do best (strengths)
4. Recognition/feedback every 7 days
5. Someone at work cares about me as a person
6. Encouragement of development

Engagement drivers are a leading indicator.
Without the result, the activity does not matter.
The activity can happen without the achievement.

The goal of engagement is sustainable results.
Great Results aren't sustainable without engagement.
Great engagement isn't sustainable without results.

Next Week:

Angie Morrison from College Community School District will be speaking to us about their expansion plans and bond issues.

THE FOUR WAY TEST

Is it the TRUTH?

Is it FAIR to all concerned?

Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?

Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
