Lori Erusha, Executive Director of Mercy Foundation & Patti Kunz

Lori and Patti shared about plans for the new Mercy HallMar Village. Mercy purchased the Echo Hill church on C Ave NE to build a senior living complex for aging & dementia patients that will serve seniors all the way from independent living to nursing care. They will partner with Presbyterian Homes & Services which will be a first ever partnership between a medical center and a senior living development group. HallMar Village will replace HallMar Nursing Home at Mercy's hospital. The entire complex will be under one roof, including residences, village center and an Innovative Center for Aging & Dementia - no need to go outside to get from one part of the village to another. The Village will incorporate a layout that is easily adaptable with short halls, open kitchen and a cheery decor to help residents quickly adapt to their new surroundings. One staff person will be assigned to the resident, cutting down on the resident's confusion of who is helping them. The staff person assigned to the resident will know their family and their background. The Village Center will be a hub for use by both residents and the public. Some amenities will include a restaurant and bistro, salon & spa, chapel, underground heated parking, library, community room, woodworking shop, etc.

The Innovative Center for Aging & Dementia will be a resource for residents and the broader community and will include:

  • Mercy Memory Clinic
  • Geriatric Clinic
  • Family Caregivers Center Extension
  • Adult Day Center
  • Research & Training Institute
    • Aging & Dementia Think Tank
    • Assistive Technology Department
    • Living Classroom
HallMar Village will advance the status quo of senior living by providing a research-based way of living inclusively for older adults and those living with chronic conditions, including dementia.

The tentative opening date is December 2021. There are currently 29 people on the waiting list - coming from as far as Nebraska and Missouri.

THE FOUR WAY TEST

Is it the TRUTH?

Is it FAIR to all concerned?

Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?

Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
