Ash Wagel is our 2023-2024 Metro North Rotary President. Ash is the Business Manager for KGAN-TV Iowa’s News Now, the CBS and FOX affiliates for Eastern Iowa. He has been a member of MNR for 8 years. Ash is a Michigan alum and fan who found his way to Iowa almost 20 years ago and has grown to love it here. Ash is officially an empty nester as his youngest daughter just got married and he is now looking forward to spoiling his granddaughter!
We recently asked Ash why he chose to get involved with Metro North and he shared the following: “My dad was a Rotarian and Club President, so I’ve been around Rotary most of my life. My employer at the time wanted me to get involved in the community and when I went to a Metro North Rotary Meeting I immediately felt at home. The club is a fun bunch that is always out in the community volunteering and looking to make a difference. I am a former teacher and the club’s work with Metro High School spoke to my soul. Also, I was drawn to the club’s passion for Youth Exchange. I’ve worked with Rotary Youth Exchange for the past five years and each year it reaffirms my faith in humanity interacting with these awesome kids from around the world. The Rotary theme for this year is Create Hope in the World and as Metro North Rotary President this year, I’m looking forward to working on projects big and small that do create hope in the world.”
