Speaker: Jacob Wittrock, Assistant District Governor
This coming Rotary Year Michelle Bell is our District Governor, she was the Foundation Chair, and Jacob Wittrock, also from Marion-East CR Club, is one of 12 Assistant District Governors. Michelle is a "working Governor" meaning that she is not retired and will retain her full time duties at Collins Aerospace. She is redefining the Asst. Governor role to help. Michelle would like to help us with service projects or fundraisers rather than speaking at a regular meeting. Keep that in mind for those running events this year!
Jacob shared the Rotary Vision from this year's President:
Together, we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change - across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.
Jacob also shared news about a couple of new initiatives:
- Public Relations Grants - to enhance the Rotary image. Can include banners, billboards, brochures and is a 1-1 match up to $250. Applications are available now until the money runs out.
- Reverse Global Grants - used for equipment needs for local free health clinics in CR, Waterloo and Dubuque
- Flat Paul Harris - #flatpaulharris. They are encouraging Rotarians to capture moments with a flat Paul Harris to raise awareness of all the good things Rotary Foundation does!
- Rotary Foundation - The Rotary Foundation is a 4 star charity and has returned almost $450,000 in grants for our communities and almost $524,000 through our District globally! If you don't already please consider giving every year to the Foundation!
