Speaker:
Our speaker was Dr. Ryan Sundermann, an emergency room doctor and co-owner of SoKo Outfitters.
Ryan is passionate about the outdoors and being active, which is what led to his decision to join with several others in establishing SoKo Outfitters. The building required a good deal of renovation, including opening up the second floor. In the process of renovations, the original plaster side of the building was damaged, destroying a beloved Czech mural. The current mural was added, representing the mission of SoKo.
The store opened on September 1, 2018. Their mission is to create a destination retail establishment which encourages and supports people to embrace the outdoors. It is a labor of love for the owners, who hand pick every retail item. In addition to retail, the store has a blog, invites speakers, shows outdoor adventure films, and books outdoor adventure trips!
SoKo Outfitters believes so strongly in the importance of community that they are working with the City of Cedar Rapids on creating a whitewater feature for kayakers using the new kayak ramp being installed by the city. They will continue to work with the City to envision opportunities for active outdoor experiences locally, and to support individuals who wish to pursue a wide variety of outdoor activities and challenges.
Is it the TRUTH?
Is it FAIR to all concerned?
Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
